Beaver fur is the gold standard for measuring a hat’s quality: An ‘X’ indicates 10% beaver fur content e.g. XX = 20%, XXXX = 40%  

The goal was to create a hat to resist pouring rain, beating sun, or cutting wind, that was light enough to have a ‘barely-there’ wearing quality, and finally, be tough enough to withstand everyday wear. 

The Frontier is crafted from 10X beaver blended with the versatile and durable fibres of wool and rabbit down, producing a water-resistant, durable, and comfortably weighted felt hybrid that will hold its shape in rain, hail, or shine. 

The Frontier is dense and virtually waterproof. This particular blend consists of beaver and rabbit fur blended with merino wool that lasts ten times longer than a normal fur-wool-felt hat. It can be reworked and shaped numerous times and is the best material from which to manufacture hats. 

Beaver hats were made, and still to this day, worn for durability to last against wet and harsh weather, and are traditionally a proud part of the cowboy heritage – much like Australia’s rural men and women of the land.
